op5 announces the immediate release of op5 Monitor 4.2.6 a bug fix release solving many minor bugs mainly related to the new beta user interface Ninja.

Main fixes in op5 Monitor 4.2.6:

• Authentication issues in Ninja – Limited users in some cases see to much and in other too little information
• Reports debug tool – Make test case to help when debuging
• Lots of minor fixes in the Ninja, Nacoma and op5 reports modules.

All op5 Monitor users are recommended to update to the latest release

We have set up a community Wiki on our community site to make it possible for the community to add and change the documentation of op5s network monitoring open source projects Ninja, an new PHP frontend for Nagios, Merlin, an event handler and Nacoma an nagios coniguration manager.

op5 today announces the release of op5 Monitor 4.2, a kind of half way release to op5 Monitor 5.0. op5 Monitor 4.2 includes a “feel and try” mode of the new PHP user interface (GUI) based on the Ninja project. The GUI replaces the old and unflexible Nagios GUI and opens up for many new cool features, this includes the use of widgets. In the Monitor 4.2 release also includes a new network visualisation tool based on NagVis and a geomap widget. Read more about the release of op5 Monitor 4.2 here

On friday we made our bugs and features system Mantis publicly available on our support portal www.op5.com/support. Now users and visitors can view all bugs and feature requests, change logs and road maps for all op5s products and projects. By registering it is also possible to submit bugs and feature requests!

Today we have several services on our websites that needs registration to access. We are working on a single account solution to make this less tedious for regular visitors to our sites.

We have just published an article how to monitor Esx3.x, ESXi, vSphere 4 and vCenter Server with op5 Monitor. This article is op5 Monitor centric but op5 Monitor is a Nagios based Monitoring software and appliance, so this article can also be used to implement Nagios vmware monitoring.

The plugin used to gather the information is released under GPL and is developed by op5. Please feel free to use and contribute to this and the other plugins in op5 Plugins and other open source projects available on www.op5.org

The progress of the next version of the Network Monitoring tool op5 Monitor (5.0) has now reached beta stage. The beta versions are available for download from op5s support portal. This version is a first step to a new era of Nagios based Network Monitoring software with a completely new user interface (GUI) available for testing, something that many have wanted for years but no one have had the “guts” to develop… until now. The new GUI is PHP based with a widget structure that open many exiting possibilities! The GUI is based on the Ninja project that is mentioned by Ethan to be a candidate for the next official Nagios GUI. In op5 Monitor 5.0 the new GUI is included for testing, the old GUI is still default. The new op5 Monitor 5.0 also includes a new Nagvis based network map, also available for testing. So it is a very exiting release with a lot of candy and several bugfixes.

The stable version of op5 Monitor 5.0 is expected to be released in the end of August 2009.

The date for beta release of the NINJA gui for Nagios has been set to July 10 and will be available for download at op5 community site, where you also can follow the project development, comment, contribute and sign up to the mailing list.

Merlin, or Module for Effortless Redundancy and Load balancing In Nagios, has reached beta stage! The Merlin project was initially started to create an easy way to set up distributed Nagios installations, allowing Nagios processes to exchange information directly as an alternative to the standard nagios way using NSCA.

The code has been available in our code library for some time and we have received a lot of comments and input as well as patches, speeding the project along. We are very grateful to everyone and anyone helping out and testing the module.
